In the Footsteps of Hercules

Tucked into a wooded valley in south-western Romania, Baile Herculane is one of the most beloved thermal destinations to survive from Roman times. The town takes its name from Hercules, who, according to legend, bathed in these very waters to restore his strength.

Here you can discover more than 16 different thermal springs, each with its own mineral character. The Romans built baths, statues and temples around them, and the grand 19th-century bathhouses that line the valley today recall the town’s long-standing reputation as a place of healing and relaxation.
